Security researchers have discovered a widespread and severe vulnerability in internet web servers that may expose sensitive data, known as Heartbleed OpenSSL Flaw. A patch is available, and server administrators are rapidly applying it all across the internet. What this means is that it is VERY DANGEROUS to go to secure websites that have not published that they either were not infected or they have installed the patch. If you can avoid using internet websites that require you to log-in please do so. 

Neither Online@Heritage nor eCorp for Heritage clients utilize OpenSSL technology so they have never been vulnerable to the Heartbleed Open SSL flaw. However, as a BEST PRACTICE, we recommend that you change your password, particularly if you use the same password on other websites.

Attention Windows XP Users:
Microsoft Has Ended Support for the Windows XP Operating System

In August 2013, Microsoft announced they were ending support for Windows XP and Office 2003 as of April 8, 2014:

From Microsoft’s website,

“After 12 years, support for Windows XP will end on April 8, 2014. There will be no more security updates or technical support for the Windows XP operating system. It is very important that customers and partners migrate to a modern operating system such as Windows 8.1.”

It is important that our customers maintain their data security by employing a fully supported Operating System.  Heritage will be sending more information shortly about our requirements for your security.

Fraud Phone Calls Regarding Debit Cards

Many of our clients have reported receiving phone calls on their cell phone claiming to be from NetShare or NetCom ore NetSomething. These calls come from 317-215-5328 or may show as unavailable. The recordered message claims the client's debit card has been suspended. The client is asked to enter theire debit card information to reactivate the card. This is a phishing expedition and is not originated by Heritage Bank. Please DO NOT enter your debit card information in response to a phone call. If the Bank is trying to contact you regarding your card or your acount, the Bank will have your information.
